http://pics.livejournal.com/giania/gallery/0000h0b1 Pictures of stuff, like lionfish, and my new tv, and some other crap you might want to see. YOU LOVE IT! I said so in all caps, so it must be true.
memorial day morning update
Added more pictures, added better captions.
I want mad feedback, yo.
And I have to admit to being guilty of being too self-absorbed. To irritated and disillusioned (or just dillusional in general?) to be truely “angry” enough to do the right thing. The right thing being: get up in the faces of those that are falling LEAGUES short of their duty.
For the record though, I have never been fleeced by the amoral fluff that occupies prime time television. Paris Hilton will eventually develop a life-ending sexual disease and that will be that. If anything, that situation and any subsequent press coverage of her dealing with that eventuality would actually bring some light to the fact that living such a lifestyle actually does have negative consequences. The consequences for fucking everything that moves - as well as some things that don’t - are largely glossed over from what I can tell.
As for the government and the press? The phrase “fear and loathing” comes to mind. The dry, practical-yet-personal approach of Dr. Thompson is something that seems rather lacking during these times of crisis. I am sinking my teeth into Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail ‘72, and I can safely say the similarities are already astounding.
So what is it going to take, I wonder, to motivate the people like me to do something? Besides of course this armchair punditry. What have others been doing? I’m curious. I don’t always keep track of the socio-political activities of my friends, but it’s still good to know that someone cares enough to do something.
there are basic health issues that everyone should be aware of. No one should smoke, no one should drink, no one should eat foods that rob them of their health, or work in hazardous environments
That’s a given
But to attempt to enforce via condescending suggestion that “You are a baby machine and therefore MUST do this” (which is, by the by, above and beyond “basic” human needs) is asinine.
Their target treatment audience can’t even AFFORD to get these kinds of lectures anyway
They can also take their racial categorization and shove it so far up their ass it sees daylight again. I realize there are different medical dispositions that can be found among different racial groups, however, the application here is purely a socio-economic statement. While it may be “true”, it doesn’t mean this kind of categorization should persist. Race + Economics = No Progress.
“Congratulations Miss, you just birthed another baby machine! Shall we schedule the future Gyno visits now so we can ensure proper baby making procedure for it in the future, or are you just an irresponsible whore?”
After visting the TokiDoki site I have found something to lust after. A crazy-hot slipcover for my iPod Shuffle. Mmm….. it’s Shuffle-icious. I discovered after a little poking about that they’re available from iSkin. There’s covers for iPod Mini also. I spend a good deal of time attached to my iPod, escaping the mindless chatter and din of the office, so to be able to feign a little style while I’m at it would be dead sexy. That, and it’d go well with my TokiDoki clutch purse that I picked up while in Vegas this past Feb/March. It was quite the find, in a little shop operated by some sweet, shy asian ladies. I can’t remember off the top of my head the details of the shop, but I’ll likely edit that in when I get home.
I was also shown a really neat little app earlier (courtesy of Doctor Launch from the Ormgas IRC channel). You can locate this app at Virtual Constructs under Downloads. Remember Mega Man 2? Remember the intro screen for the Robot Master stages? Well, how would you like your apps to launch like Robot Masters? Word. I like it a lot. If that makes no sense to you, visit the guy’s site and check out the details yourself! Nyah! It’s a novelty I’ll use myself for a bit, and probably expose others to at every given opportunity.
