Environmental Personal Checklist
I didn’t forget!
So this morning I took about a 10 minute shower, not as short as I could (or should) have, but certainly better than some of the attempts I’ve made.
I do use mostly natural soaps lately, which aside from being exceedingly luxuriant, are also void of all the funky soap chemicals produced by your average soaps. Pretty cool on a number of levels, really.
I’ve also got one of those shower clean type sprays that’s made of things derived directly from natural sources. I don’t hafta scrub the shower as often, it smells good, and I don’t hafta worry that it’s going to eat holes in my skin somehow.
My toothbrush is recyclable! When I’m done with it, all I gotta do is grab a prepaid envelope and send it back to the company, and they’ll melt it back down into something new! http://www.recycline.com/ Those are the guys. They’ve got a full line of recycled and recyclable products.
Left the AC off for several hours last night. It’ll make my pocketbook happy too! YAY.
I walked to work this morning. I walk to work pretty much every morning these days. It’s only a couple blocks away, maybe a 10 minute walk if I’m slow about it. It’s environmentally friendly, health-conscious, and saves me from having to fuel my car as often.
I went and bought coffee from my local coffee shop. Which is good insofar as it supports local business. However, now I’ve got a plastic cup, lid, and straw that I’m going to end up chucking. Not to mention it’s cheaper for me to just make coffee using the coffee maker here.
I just noticed that my desk calandar is made of recycled materials! yaaay.
Speaking of recycling, I’m going to call my town recycling center and see if I absolutely have to use one of their bins to place cans, etc. curbside. If I can use one of my several empty bins to put stuff out for collection, that will be really awesome. Or I could just find the nearest collection center that will actually pay for my recyclable goods and do myself a monetary favor, too!
That’s what I’ve got for now.
I encourage others to share tidbits and suggestions. You are by no means required to adhere to my tendency to ramble in order to share. :)
