Hopping on the Bandwagon of Democractic Procedure

This morning I went out and cast my vote for president, as well as some state and local officials.
The lines weren’t long, the weather wasn’t bad, and I still had time for coffee. It didn’t hurt, and no one was particularly grouchy.
Voting isn’t so bad. If you haven’t voted, you should. If you have voted, give yourself a pat on the back for participating – at least marginally – in the continued operation of our government as a relatively functional democratic republic federal constitutional republic .
For more election time distractions to keep your hands on your mouse and out of your mouth (from chewing on your nails, you know), check out:
- The Swing State Project – A map of when state’s polling places close, as well as a chart of which states have Republican or Democratic incumbents.
- Yahoo’s Election Coverage- Very comprehensive.
- Twitter’s Election Topics Feed – A fast-updating scrolling influx of people’s voting opinions.
- Twitter Vote Report – A mashup including every tweet tagged with #votereport.
And finally, a Google Maps mashup (by Google themselves) which will show which states and counties have reported in and what they’ve reported. For your viewing pleasure, I give you New Hampshire’s map.
P.S. Totally counting this as my post for the day. XD

In terms of distracting oneself from the feeling of impending doom which accompanies an election such as this, I’ve heard good things about superobamaworld.com – I might be there for a while tonight.
I’m trying to remember what I did last election night, I think I posted panicky stuff on Livejournal while sucking down cheap gin and tonics from a plastic cup. I think keef linked me to emogame 2.5 which was basically reskinned to show the evils of Bush II and his cronies, all to the soundtrack of My Bright Dashboard Romance Avenged in Cambria or whatever.
