I was so excited when I found out Wilco had a new album, entitled Sky Blue Sky, just the day after it released. I immediately downloaded it off iTunes and I’m loving every moment of it. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see them in concert this year. (You can subscribe to the tour update RSS feed with this link right here: http://wilcoworld.net/tours/wilcodates.xml) They are absolutely electrifying live, I just wish I’d gotten pictures.
Speaking of the sky and getting electrified, the other day we had some serious storms here in NH, and there was an actual tornado warning for the area. I told the people I was having lunch with (a New England native and a Floridian) that they didn’t really need to worry, because the sky hadn’t turned green yet. Having lived in central Illinois for several years, and having family who lived in the same area, I’d heard the tale that when the sky turns green, it’s time to run for cover. As it turns out, even science isn’t sure about why the sky turns green, and how often it is a true indicator of exceptionally foul weather to come! It does appear to be a common enough trend to be used as a common warning sign of possible tornadoes, though.
Found at least one decent photo over at stormeyes.org:

Last night, I fell asleep around 2.
Woke up at 3:15, 3:25. 3:35, 3:40, 3:50, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and finally at 8:30 I was actually supposed to get up, and so now here I am.
I had a lot of vivid, odd dreams. And let me tell you, the mall in my dreams is a lot more grandiose than the one I go to on a day-to-day basis. In this one part, a friend and I decended this massive staircase into Macy’s, and it had to have been about 30 feet wide and it was about 5 terraces of steps downwards (at about the typical 10-12 steps each per set), and there were these fancy chrome and glass dividers running up said steps separating it into about four sections. The actual store had more makeup and jewelery on display than I may have ever seen, and it was all set up on those rotating things like you see the junk jewelery hanging from. We came across two ladies selling what looked a little like catcher’s breastplates, but I’m not sure what they were supposed to be. I do remember that one was cheap hard foam like old pool equipment. And I was looking in specific for eyeshadow that was the color green like what you’d find in those two-tone irridescent fabrics (where it’s, say, purprle at one angle, and green at another), and Racheal didn’t know what I was talking about (which even in the dream seemed silly, because everybody’s seen that stuff by now), but showed me some barrettes that were multicolored that had a green one on top.I had broken, half-formed dreaming images of drumming, but that was from the heater making heavy ticking sounds. At one of the three intervals in which I woke, I definately remember hearing thunder. Three peals of thick-sounding thunder all one right after the other. Which seems odd, given that it’s mid-winter and I don’t think it stormed last night. Very peculiar indeed.
